Ubuntu Belgium Events Team
Every now and then, we'll be seeing Ubuntu-be supported events. The coordination of these activities will be done by our Events Team. So, are you planning an Ubuntu event in Belgium? Be sure to get in touch with us! We can lend you a hand and see how we can support you. Furthermore, this way we can point out the best date to prevent events from colliding. Obviously our man-power and financial resources are limited, so we possibly won't be able to support every single event out there. No need to say that you're always welcome to promote Ubuntu on every possible way!
Hardy Heron 8.04 was a LTS (Long Term Support) ... a Long Term Release deserved some greater attention. There was one big party in Herk-de-Stad, in the city halls.
For the next releases 2008-2009 (8.10, 9.04 and 9.10, non LTS), we're looking for more local incentive. The releases are planned for end October (release .10 and end April (.04) and we could be having install-parties all over the country. This means we'll be counting on you too ! More help can be found on the dedicated page :https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ReleaseParty .
It's obvious: this will be a "community effort" - but hey, that's what us Ubuntero's are famous for! Just tell how you'll fit in...
Organize an event yourself
We've got a roadmap to get you started on launching your own Release Party. It's not a step-by-step-you-have-to-do-it-all guide... it's just a hand-out of options. It's up to you how big you want to make this, and which audience you have in mind...
We're always looking for people who are motivated and want to help.
- Do you know of a good spot?
- Are you willing to distribute flyers?
- You've got connections with a local newspaper, radio or TV-channel?
- Possibly you know of companies that would sponsor?
- You're living next to a planned location, and you don't mind getting up early to help us prep the room?
